Welcome to Howler Heights — a secluded paradise with stunning ocean, valley, and river views located on a perfect hilltop in Punta Azuero, a private development above the small fishing village of Búcaro. Wake up to a chorus of howler monkeys in the morning, you will feel completely immersed in a tropical dry rainforest environment surrounded by an abundance of birds, animals, and ocean breezes. There is plenty of fresh air, fabulous sunrises and at night you can see a universe of stars you didn’t know existed. If you have dreamt of getting away from it all, but still want to be part of a small community that looks out for one another, you can certainly do that here. Enjoy a tranquil beach without the crowds in a seldom explored area of Panama while appreciating all the amenities of a modern home on your own private 2-acre fully fenced sanctuary.

With 2300 square feet of living space, this Tuscan-style 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom bungalow hits the sweet spot for practical indoor/outdoor space. Cook like a pro in a very well-equipped kitchen that has recently been renovated to include sexy new granite countertops, under-counter lighting, a large double under-mount sink, glass tile backsplash, and top-of-the-line appliances. There is even a dedicated coffee/wine station with a grind-and-brew machine as well as a Nespresso for the connoisseurs!

What about the Internet? We have fast Starlink satellite service with 150 meg wifi throughout the house and terrace as well as a 65 QLED Samsung Smart TV with Bose Seismic sound system for entertainment. The master bedroom has a king bed, orthopedic mattress, A/C, and an attached ensuite bathroom. The guest bedroom also has AC, an ensuite bathroom, a queen bed, and a new orthopedic mattress.

With that said, our favorite area of the house is the outdoor living area–a large terrace covered in flowering pots and sky vines that frame the panoramic ocean and valley views. We eat most meals on the terrace and there is a full sofa set and outdoor beverage fridge where you can entertain or kick back with your favorite glass of wine to admire the view… did we mention it is the perfect place to build an infinity pool? We also have another sitting area on the opposite side of the house–a beautiful garden pergola built on a flagstone patio that is enchanting when the evening lights come on. We have several troops of howler and white-faced monkeys that come into the yard as well as a plethora of birds–especially hummingbirds — as we have designed a large garden to attract them. Speaking of gardens, we have several fruit trees: mango, papaya, lime, and pineapple as well as plenty of space to plant your herbs and veggies on a lower terrace if you are big into gardening. Because the yard is so large, we do have a fully-automated 4-zone irrigation system (expandable to 12 zones) that covers the primary plants during the dry season.

Are you a hobbyist that requires a large workshop or simply has a lot of stuff you need to store? There is a spacious 24×24 carport and 24X24 workshop as well as a small garden shed on the property. Other modern conveniences include a new Generac 22kw auto-start generator that was just installed last year to cover any power outages (yes, this is Panama and we do get them). It also has extra power in case you want to expand: build a pool, casita or start your own B&B!

Two sources of water are available including rainwater harvesting and community well water supply. There are 6600 gallons of on-site water storage as well as a water softener and filtration system to ensure a clean water supply to the house. Note: We cook, brush our teeth and pretty much do everything except drink it. The driveway is constructed using “grass blocks” to provide a solid surface to drive on, but still allows grass to grow through to keep a green appearance and does not need to be irrigated during the dry season. An automatic gate opener keeps your property secure but provides quick entry. Lastly, there is a 19×13 ft animal enclosure for those who have dogs or for those who might be interested in animal rehabilitation, We are willing to remove it if you don’t need of it.

The annual community maintenance fees are currently a very modest $670/year which covers the roads, water system, and security.
