About Lake Coatepeque

Lake Coatepeque is a lake of volcanic origin, located 18 km south of the city of Santa Ana in the municipality of El Congo. It has an altitude of 745 msnm and an area of 25.3 km2. In addition, its depth is 115 m.1 It has an island called the Cerro Island or Teopán. The toponymous " coatepeque alien " means “Cerro de Culebras” in Nahuatl language

It has very pleasant waters, and is an ideal place to practice diving, sailing, canoeing, swimming and water skiing.
