Location: 9th Avenue, 5th Street
This house was the residence of Mrs. Ofelia María Coto Cubero, built at the beginning of the 20th century, as part of the development of the Amón neighborhood; It is one of the few wooden buildings from the 1920s that are still preserved. The technique and materials used in its construction make it an example of an urban typology in the process of extinction.

The Amón neighborhood was one of the first to form northeast of the city of San José; In 1895 the opening of its streets was completed and the drinking water service was installed. The Josephine bourgeoisie finds in this new neighborhood an ideal place to build their elegant homes, inspired by different European styles or a mix of these. Mr. Aniceto Esquivelo Carazo acquired a property with a frontage of 13.65m on Fifth Street and a depth of 22m (363 m2) facing 9th Avenue, where he built this home in the 1920s. Years later he sold it. and passed into the hands of different owners until it was acquired in 1959 by Mrs. Coto Cubero.
Approximate construction: 500 M2
6 bedrooms, 2 kitchens, 6 bathrooms, parking for 2 or more cars, internal terrace. IT IS RENTED AND SOLD WITH OR WITHOUT FURNITURE. Rental to reputable companies and government preferably.

The building is simple but maintains great harmony and symmetry in the different façades. The main façade to the east has a plinth of 1.50 m in the highest part and above it rises the wooden construction, made of 3 mm thick planks. ”. It has two floors, in front of the first there is a corridor with a railing of simple rules, without decoration. It also has several guillotine windows made up of small glass in geometric figures. On the roof there is an attic and towards the center of it a ventilation monitor. Its roofs are made of galvanized iron and it has three sections: the upper part, the monitor part and those on the north side, all gabled.
